THE CALL

 life is trembling

In the starting gate

defying expectations

rebirthing my dreams.

Monochromatic mazes

promised order and stability.

Failure was unthinkable.

Success was not enough.

My heart shattered,

spraying acid and perplexity.

Paradigms exploded.

The road is open now.

No map or GPS.

I cannot see past the next hilltop.

Freedom and anxiety

march hand in hand.

Love carries the banner.

Death stalks the neighbourhood,

but I am not alone.
